Details for PUBLIC NOTICE Pursuant to the Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation
Pursuant to the Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act and the Clean Streams Law, notice is hereby given that Waroquier Coal Company, doing business at P.O. Box 128, Clearfield, PA 16830 has made application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for renewing its existing surface coal mine permit and the related NPDES permit. The current permit SMP #17080114 was issued on April 13, 2015 and expired on April 13, 2020 and is now being renewed for reclamation only such that no further coal extraction will occur. The receiving streams for the permit area are Unnamed Tributaries to North Witmer Run and Davidson Run. The operation is located in Jordan Township, Clearfield County and is known as the Jordan #1 Operation. The permit area is situated approximately 0.8 miles northwest of the intersection of State Roads SR-3014 and SR-3005 located on the Irvona U.S.G.S. Quadrangle map, 9.9 inches north and 11.1 inches west from the bottom right hand corner of the printed map.
Written comments, objections and requests for public hearing or informal conference may be submitted to the Department of Environmental Protection, 186 Enterprise Drive, Philipsburg, PA 16866 within 20 days following the last publication date of the notice and must include your name, address, telephone numbers and a brief statement as to the nature of the objection(s). The renewal application is available for public inspection at the Clearfield County Conservation District Office, 6395 Clearfield-Woodland Highway, Suite 2, Clearfield, PA 16830. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, if you wish to inspect the application, you must first call the Clearfield County Conservation District at (814) 765-2629 and make an appointment.
