PERMIT RENEWAL

Pursuant to the (Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act, the Coal Refuse Disposal Control Act, Bituminous Mine Subsidence and Land Conservation Act, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Rules and Regulations and Clean Streams Law) notice is hereby given that Penn Coal Land, Inc., P.O. Box 68, Boswell, PA 15531, has made application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, for the purpose of renewing its existing Surface Mine Permit (SMP) and the related NPDES permit #PA0609692. This renewal is for mine drainage treatment and reclamation only.

The current SMP #17813182 was issued on April 11, 1985 and will expire on April 11, 2020. This renewal does not contain revisions to the existing operation.

The receiving streams for the permit area are an unnamed tributary to Big Run. The operation is located in Decatur Township, Clearfield County and is known as the Drane II Operation. The 125.8 acre permit area is situated approximately 1/2 mile SW of S.R. 970 and approximately 1/2 mile North of Scotch Hollow. The Wallaceton PA., U.S. Geological Survey 7 1/2' topographic map contains the area described.

A copy of the application is available for public inspection at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Moshannon District Office, 186 Enterprise Drive, Philipsburg, PA 16866. Written comments, objections or a request for public hearing or informal conference may be submitted to the PADEP, Moshannon District Office, 186 Enterprise Drive, Philipsburg, PA 16866 within thirty (30) days following the fourth and final publication of this notice. Any correspondence must include the person's name, address, telephone number, and a brief statement as to the nature of the objection(s).
